This is the Day that the Lord Hath Made

Dear friends,

This morning I received word that one of the summer missionaries in Peru passed away. Greg Gomez was on a team doing research in the Andes when his truck crashed into the side of the mountain. He was with two other missionaries, Claudia Puentes and Lydia Shiver, both suffered injuries but will be okay. Please pray for these people, their families, and the rest of the missionaries in Peru this summer.

We learned the news right before lunch. We had two appointments at lunch, one to study the Bible, and one for Trevor to teach guitar. We decided not to cancel them, as it was so close to the time of our commitment. Brad, another missionary, came to our village to give emotional support today. After lunch ALex, the son of the restaurant family, and Adrien, a veterinarian and teacher at the institute, came to study the Bible with us. We serve an amazing God, and both received Christ today. We got to share with Arturo as well as he was learning guitar. Matt was able to share the Gospel with Alex using his limited SPanish, and Adrien and I talked about the creation and about how the Bible is our guide. Adrien is a potential leader, so please pray for him. He is really cool, and I´ve been able to talk to him about my studies a lot. He wants to study and get a group together so that it can continue when we leave.

We serve an amazing God. Please pray for Emmy, as she is taking this loss very hard. Greg was a really cool guy, and he had a bright future ahead of him. He just graduated from Ole Miss with an engineering degree and had a job lined up upon return. We saw him a week ago in Nazca. I don´t know what to say except to ask you all to pray.

¨Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.¨
2 Corinthians 4:16-18

In Christ,
Liz
